English Language Challenges

For being honest, I didn't expect this career would be so different like the image I use to have about anthropology. Speaking about my experience this year and a half I can say that things went well, but not only for the career but by my own merits to seek the approach of Asian studies and international relations that I have developed even so I must say that none of this could have done without the support that many people of this faculty have given me, there are very valuable people here for me. What comments can you make about your experience learning English at university? What about the use of blogs? About learn English, I feel that I need a greater challenge to learn better because all things I want to do in the future are related with know English and have good skills speaking and writing in English. I like the blogs, but I feel like I use to need more feedback about what I did well and what I did bad. My biggest need is to learn more English grammar and pronunciation becaus...

Changes to anthropology

Imagen
I liked too much this topic because i always thought that this career needs many changes. My main problem with this career is that I feel it is very anachronistic and has a little updated approach to current anthropology. Compared with other universities that have this career I think that this one has too much focus on indigenous issues. And yes, its okay have that focus in part, because the development of the anthropology was in context of indigenous investigation, and yes we have the case of the mapuche and all the investigation problems linked with their culture, but such a specific approach can generate a closure with anthropology in other parts of the world. As Miguel de Unamuno said "Fascism is cured by reading and xenophobia is removed traveling" maybe we need to focus our career in that, in the diversity of human groups but linked directly with them ... I know, it is difficult to make a whole generation travel around the world to meet people from other cultures, ...

Opinions

What is your opinion about the immigration situation in Chile? For me, the current immigration is a mixture of elements that converged in what is now lived in Chile, and reflects two faces of globalization that are unexpected and uncomfortable. On the one hand, the climate destruction and corruption that hampered Haiti, and on the other, the exacerbation of mercantile capitalism and the economic growth that Chile has with growing inequality. These two elements when coming together generate problems that the population can not overcome at all, mainly in terms of how to relate to poverty and people with different language and skin color. The government's responses to immigration are inhumane, but they also reflect the fear of the other strangers we have not seen for so long from this terrestrial island What is your opinion about tattoos? For me tattoos are like characteristic signs of people, reflect their personality, tastes and experiences, some can also be directed to be mu...

Conspiracy real theories

This is also one of my favorite topics. So I'll choose more than one The first is the attack on the twin towers and nanotermites nomalies involving the collapse of WTC buildings on 9-11 are discussed from the perspective of possible controlled demolition implosion rather than of aircraft impact and fuel-fire damage. Considered is the possible use of thermite to melt sections of the columns of the WTC towers inner cores, thus aiding in their collapse. Thermite has been proposed as a chemical reactant that is capable of achieving the collapse of the central cores of the WTC towers. The thermite reaction produces great heat, capable of melting steel, and since it does not produce reactant gases, there would not be the high explosive signature of a massive shock wave. It is the rapid production and heating of gas reaction products that causes destructive shock waves from high explosives. The possible use of thermite was analyzed only because other researchers have proposed it and bec...

My post graduate studies

When i graduate of the university i pretend to do a lot of things related with my academic interest of the asian studies so why i want is learn a lot during my time at the university, learn asian languages and next of this do a master in Japan about international studies in the Asian countries. I plan to study at the University of Tsukuba wich is the university where my favourite writter Haruki Murakami studied. It is a university focused on the social sciences and has a very large number of careers that call my attention, so knowing the language (japanese) and especially English is very important for being able to learn in that country. Anyway i want to learn as much as i can to understand the idiosyncrasy of Asia and use the tools that my career gives me so that at the time of graduation I can successfully develop in the postgraduate program that best suits my interests. I want to be able to apply for Scholarships but I think I should look for a financing alternative so that it doe...

My favorite animes and an analysis of why I like them so much

Imagen
For many reasons this is my favorite theme, for that reason i cant choose just one theme. So I'll talk a about my favorite animes and why I chose them. The first one is Code Geass Code Geass is an anime of psychological thriller, science fiction, drama and in my opinion also speaks of politics and State policy. But why of policy? It’s simple: The story tells how the young Lelouch Vi Britannia and his sister Nunally were banished from the Royal Palace of the Holy Empire of Britannia and were sent to 11 area (Japan was invaded by Britannia) denying their condition of princes and then ignoring their existence. It is in this context that Lelouch seeks to overthrow the Emperor Charles zi Britannia (his father) through the power of his Geass and eventually with the influence and power that will gain. The actions of Lelouch resemble those of a peon that gets a promotion, little by little manages to become powerful and then to have control of the chessboard. Lelouch is an excellent ...

Themed-post 1: Movies or series that left a mark on you

Mmm its hard it is difficult for me to say which is my favorite movie because I do not see many movies and the ones I see I usually forget them, I see movies more than anything because of how interesting they seem to me and I try to find their philosophical side. However, i have a movie that left a mark on me and I really like to say it because nobody imagines it's my favorite movie since my way of being and my appearance do not give the idea that I could like something like that also because the movie at first sight seems to be a common movie but it really marks me. The movie that left a strong mark in me is "The devil wears Prada" of Anne Hathaway and Maryl Streep. I think I've seen this movie more than 20 times and I never tire, even i know the dialogues and the reason for my fanaticism it 's because this film left me many life lessons, about how to be authentic and how to adapt to achieve success even learning such crucial aspects of people's lives as fash...
